does anyone have any pics of the vitara diff centre?

or any info about it? is it similar to sierra? or totally different?
splines? internal gears?

i need to know so i can get a new centre.
took mine out today, found bits of metal while draining diff oil. not good.
i think the metal is off the internal/side gears? not sure yet. need more info. haven't taken the centre apart yet. will soon.

can anyone help? also, can i just weld the planetary/side? gears up? if yes, through what method? even if thay are worn to buggery, or if i'm right, just plain f@rked? i think there might be chips out of some of the inner gears.

or does anyone have a auto locking centre they need to get rid of?

The vitara front is similar but different to the sierra centres... some parts are interchangeable.

The rear is completely different.

What diff are you talking about?

If the side gears are r00ted welding will help, if it's the crownwheel or the pinion you're stuffed.

sorry, i'm talking about the rear diff.

so the rear diff is totally different to anything else.
the crown wheel and pinion are in a good state, well, they look it, and theres no real play between them.

i'm extremly close to welding the bloody thing, but theres always a few itches that need to be scratched.

a second hand centre, (no c/pinion), just hemisphere, will cost me about $400. a new one will be at $500, and a lok rite at $680. (i'm in darwin)
so theres a lot of money.

i want to weld it, but if it breaks, or a axle shaft snaps, or something else goes, i'll be looking at more money. if anything, i'd prefer an auto locker.

so how do you weld it?

If you dont know probably ask around is best way... someone who has a speedway car will be able to do it for you if you cant find a diff place prepared to do it for you.
