What could 7k do for the ferog? comparing to an 80's series? and would it be worth it........

Are you single Ferog...........???
'cause I always thought an 80 would be good for transporting the family, longer outback trips etc.
I'm sure your $7K would go a long way into making an awesome offroad beast, but it all comes down to what you want to do with your vehicle.
There are lots of options for 4WD's, not just Rocks as most people here seem to think...........so...............do you want a Rockcrawler ?? Mudrunner ?? Sand weapon ?? Outback Tourer ??
Work out what you want and then achieve it !!!

Hey Em,
I did this to mine tonight, but I just did it with fotoshop, so its not real and it didnt cost much at all...
I reckon it looks the goods. I would love to have mine SAS'd with 37's and a ute style back with the roll bars like the "photo". I am just dreaming but you never know.
Then when you save enough... in go the dual transfer cases, lockers and etc etc...

Very nice Croz
I'm waiting to be financial enough to make a 6 point cage, where the rear will look almost identical to that !!
As for the dual cases..........have already looked into that and there doesn't seem to be enough room..........and if there was.............the rear tailshaft angle would be

Also half of $7k makes for a good start towards a house deposit
good advice... but boring
with 7K you could do some stuff, but the SAS would take up a fair chunk, prolly let you get new rubber and maybe a locker? just going off jeremy's fun... cost between 3-5K to get front his SAS. say 3K for sas (u'd have to get lux axles (guessing) front and rear to make it worth while with bigger rubber), 1500 for rubber, 1300 for gearing (if they make it, no idea), and 1300 for rear locker... that's 7100.
but don't take my word for it, could be talking out my arse, just making a 1/2 educated guess
go the 80 ur prolly gonna spend another 5-10K modding it, but with just lift and rubber it'll be a beast

heheeee.... I guess.
I want a tourer that can rockclimb, i was thinking i'd be better with the 80 as then i could set the up in the back for camping, tow horse float, and do it all in comfort but it'll cost a bit more, it'd be a turbo diesel & i will eventually put a 6" suspension lift ? ? and 35" tyres on it, later on gearing and lockers if needed, just the though of what i could do with Rog though, made me think a bit, but for 7k maybe 10, i wouldnt be getting a new engine to pull the rubber and I cant sleep in the back either...well not in comfort. hmmm,
and Kell i agree the money i will spend on it will be enough for a house deposit eventually hmmmmmmmmm...but we wantsss iit

It was just a suggestion Well thats what I did anyway, got the house and then use the equity out of it 6 months down the track to get a great car....but thats my 2 cents....teh other way you look at it you get the 80 series now and have it paid off by the time you buy a house

Hey Besty!? how have you set the rear of yours up since the rollover? From your avatar it loks as if you have used a tonneau cover over the rear and up the back... is this right?
I have been beginning to wonder how costly it would be to turn the rear into a proper ute... have the rear window set into the B pillar and a bulkhead made up below, then the rear 'tray' areas skinned and sealed...
Would make for a fun truck...
Have you got any fotos of the current setup or are they on here somewhere?

I got it figured out for you Em....
Marry me and the house thing is sorted, you can share 1/2 mine....
When you want to tow a horse float or go on a long trip you can come in my Prado I am about to buy ( as soon as I find a good recent model Diesel for around 40K) and you can still spend you 7K on the Roza for a play car on weekends.
(obviously A joke and not meant to offend)

Guess its just about what ya realy want, i almost got a bigger loan and went got a hzj80 earlier this year, but ended up with the zook, as family is LONG way off here. Also , if ya do so much work on ferog, it will be custom for a fair bit, making gettin parts possibly harder than it already is for them(cause ya gonna drive it HARD arn't ya). Aslos, when it comes time to move on to a new car, the resale wouldn't reflect the money poured into it. Running cost of cruiser also much higher than feroza too, and toyota parts price genuine is often . Having said that, if i had the money i prob buy an 80 or shorty GQ and lift it a bit, with decent tyres. That way i could try to keep the zook and TUBE BUGGY TIME!!!!!!!! Feroza power problem shouldn't be hard, as there are kits to turbo the charade engine that would easy fit.
anyway, just my $0.02 GST free for ya
layto....

Em,
In my opinion, a suzuki would be ideal for you. A Jimny maybe. Its fairly modern, cheap to run and shyt loads of mods can be acheived to it (more than the roza anyway).
80 series ???
Great truck, but maybe a bit to big for now?
Hell, I think my shorty GQ is to big some times!
Rod

Jeez you're all making Em sound like a piece of meat surrounded by a pack of salivating hyenas!
Dave- Zook- Suzuki (ie. Sierra)

As Rod said the running costs of a large 4WD are going to be a lot dearer than a Feroza. I like only using 10l/100km of fuel.... . A diesel would really be the only economical option- and then you'd want a turbo one.
Also, great you'll be able to get all the bits (eg. lockers etc) but they all cost big $$$.
(........ and remember Sam got bogged big time in his Landcruiser last weekend with his big mud tyres and front locker; Dangerous Dave had just driven out of the same spot in his stock Feroza! )

I agree with Kell, don't let the wheeling monster take over your life. You'd be surprised where your rig can go with just a few mods, not overly crazy. If you have the need for something to drive on the harder stuff, think about buying a toy for this purpose. The running costs of a larger rig will be hard on the wallet, especially as the mods start to take over the budget. Keep your truck simple, learn to wheel, then you'll have all those people with 'all the gear and no idea' wondering how you drove up that section in your basic truck...
Built, not bought.
