brakes upgrade

my rangie needs brakes so have decided to get better brakes or upgrade . rotors .pads . calipers . can i use latter models brakes on my 86 classic . has anyone done this conversion before .

Use 110 calipers on your discs,much better braking from larger pistons and pads.They bolt straight on but are only single line unlike the rangies.

Yep.
Defender calipers with 46mm pistons bolt on. You do need to replumb the lines to singles.

i think some latter model disco's have vented discs not sure if they will fit tho

You can swap vented rotors onto any coil sprung front axle. Bigger brake calipers come in two widths to suit solid or vented. I went for vented. Got calipers from paddocks, got rotors locally.

I bought a kit ages ago. It has vented discs and a spacer you put in the caliper to suit the extra width.
Been on for a few years now with no problems .
Got the kit off flea bay I think

i thought RR fronts had more area than Def fronts????

Piston area?
RRC, disco and some defender/counties are 41.3mm pistons.. There's only a certain range of model codes which use the 46mm pistons.
