corner weigh your car and send the importer plenty of info about the car and its intended use and get them valved by the seller before they leave the states down south motor sport offer this service with there sales .
as mike says you will have trouble getting service here so maybe give the local guys a chance to match the price of what you would pay overseas inc frieght and see if the ycan get close on price .

We have the 2.5 FOA C/O's (16 inch stroke) on the TT rig, but havent had them that long. So far so good, though we did get one wth a bent shaft. This was fixed up straight away though. Do some searching on
www.pirate4x4.com/forum - plenty of details about them from over in the states. Why not just import them yourself, instead of paying an importer?
As for valving, get your vehicle specs (corner weights, usage etc) and get your supplier to valve them before they are sent. Coilover tuning takes a fair bit of work, you start with a rough estimate of valving then fine tune it as your test it. Spring selection is pretty important too, you have to achive the ride height you want, but also match your frequencys. Have a good read into the suspension and coil over bibles on pirate, they give a good insight into what you are looking at. Understanding how it all works will save you a fair bit of time and money in the long run.

Stu from induro (formerly FAT) is the ONLY person i would recommend in this state. but as mentioned most of the guys with the 'know' prefer to sell the product so they can stand behind it. expect to pay good coin to get someone else to try and tune shocks they've had no involvement on set up or fitting.
There is a science to the geometry, it's not random, so ask before you fit them to have achance at getting it right.

roctoy wrote:Hi guys, I have been looking very closely at purchasing triple bypass shocks ,coil overs and a set of bump stops for my car. Its a extended Bundy with a 383 stroker, and i am building it for comps. However i don't know who to contact in Melbourne about tuning and selecting the right sizes spring rates etc before i purchase them on eBay.
Also if any one has used these shoxs and what are your thoughts.
Thanks ,

coming from a retail industry that web sales are hurting in a big way.... these days you pay extra for the aftersales service, which often makes the upfront sale price irrelevant.

I have just purchased some coilovers on line and "hope" that i got my weights etc right they are coming pre tuned.
is stu at induro the only one that can tune them if i requre them to be changed?
it is not realistic to freight them back to the states to have them re tuned.
I bought them through locktup(cheers Chris) and i am sure he will help with any mods required but dont want the hassle of freight if there is someone in melb that i can take vehicle to.

The suspension geometry will decide how the "hoped" weight will be applied to the shock and at what times. You cannot Pretune a shock on weight alone.
If you buy online to save then expect to pay more for tuning etc.

What a pathetic comment. Seriously if you are asking for information from someone and get them to do the tuning whats the issue. If they charge extra because you didnt buy the parts off them then thats down right crap.

as i posted earlier i have bought them through an australian distributor and we(the distributor and I) have made our best guess as to how to valve them.
I have no issue paying someone to reset them should they need to be reset.
i would doubt that any oif the reputable businesses that can do this work will charge extra just because you didnt buy through them.

No it's not, it's just reality. Usually people will charge less labour if you buy the product off them, so it's not feasable to charge the same cheap labour if you made no profit on parts.
