my tb42 is only getting around 300kms to around 80 litres, does that sound right? i run 35's and 4" lift, motor has about 30,000 on it after reco and carby was just overhauled.

i can hear a hissing noise coming from the fuel tank aswell just after i turn the car off.. it is a real prick of a spot to get to seal it up, is it ok if i leave it or?

Yeah sounds about right, it's a heavy brick you're moving through the air and not the most economical motor to start off with, plus your gearing wouldn't be optimised with 35's

You're tank vent system isn't working if you're getting hissing from the tank after you stop. Is it pressurising the tank or depressurising. You may be forcing more fuel through your engine than normal. But as the guys said. Its a heavy drunk. Takes a lot to get it rolling. ;)

LPG = WIN

same figures, LPG just costs 1/2 as much.

it depressurising.. a new tank was put in by the shop and petrol was leaking out the joins of the neck to the tank.. im thinking of changing diff ratios to 4.3s

Is that 300km corrected for big tyres? or 300km on odometer?

assuming its odometer, 35's are 13% bigger diameter than 31's so its actually 339km you are getting.

80 litres for 339km is 23.5L/100km and thats about right i suppose. Thats what i get with my 33's.

have you checked timing?

ah yes i didnt take that into account, but yes 300 on the odo with out any correction.

i just spent 1200 bucks on an full tune up and service and full over haul of the carby... it goes fine when it has the revs, but it seems once it starts getting hot or driven for a fair while it just wants to stall when im off the pedal..

Is idle adjusted correctly?
any chance that the choke isnt turning fully off?

ye it was all done right, there is two conclusions: 1 either there is shit in the fuel line because it started stalling on idle just as i got to the top of ameys hillclimb...
and 2 the fuse for the idler solernoid may have blown, where is the fuse for this? so i can check it.
