i am pretty sure they are the same, but the auto hubs are crap, you are better off going the manual hubs

you will need to change the spindle over as the auto locking hubs require the front edge of the spindle to have teeth

Every one says auto hubs are crap but unless you are using your truck as a comp rig or are running massive tyres ie. 37 i think they are fine. My mate has just put them on his ute with 35in MTZ's and he loves them.

Yeah dominator that may be true with larger tyres, but i had them in my GQ with 33's and they clicked and let go under load all the time, so i went to manual ones and they havent let go under load yet.

Patrol auto hubs can easily be converted to manual operation. It doesn't make them any stronger, but stops them clicking and unlocking when you don't want them to.

The auto hubs are no good. I had both replaced on my GU within 2 years. For anything half serious you need to manually lock them in with the spanner otherwise they will brake.

Def no good for those running larger tyres.

what is involved on doing a auto to man conversion on a gq?

Simply take the auto hub off by undoing the 6 alenn key bolts, then take the sir clip off out of the groove in the cv and then remove the auto locking device (2 washer like things linked together). The put the manual pieces in.

It took me about 30 mins to do and i was being heaps lazy...

The auto hubs are rubbish, I had mine crap out on me with 33's as well. Manual hubs still going strong after many years.
Luckily for you it will be quicker to swap the auto's to manual's then it will be to fix up the spelling in this thread

Aa said, you can run auto hubs but your best to lock them in manually anyhow.

donr do it mate you will regret it manual locking hubs might be a pain if you forget to put them in but they are so much more worth it
