Hi guys, does anyone know how to get the fuel pump to work on a 4.8L GU fuel tank. I connected the red and black wire to a battery and nothing. Does the other 2 wires need to be connected to a fuel gauge to make it pump.
I want to use it for the 5 Litre Holden engine in a GQ.
Thanks.

Pull the sender out and trace the wires. No you do not need to connect the other wires up.

Most fuel injected cars have a safety thing where the fuel pump relay won't turn on unless there is a trigger from the ecu. If you have removed the factory ecu to make way for your new engine this will be your problem. There is a way around it but I personally wouldn't reccomend it and that is to conect the signal wire on the relay to an ignition source but if you ever have an accident where you are unconcious the fuel pump will keep pumping and if it leaks onto hot engine components can cause a bad ass fire
