Try turning your wire speed down guts, playing with the angle you hold the gun, and the distance from the weld surface you're holding it. Also try a few different patterns. Just gotta practise heaps on scrap before trying anything structural.

Do it in little spiral motions or weld forward abit then back into it and forward again so on

Bit by bit, you'll have all sorts of probs if you try and do a straight weld right off, push the weld puddle forward with a good low wire speed.
Once you've got it tacked up make the weld slightly longer with slightly faster wire speed and a bit more heat.
OR
TURN THE 4x4 UPSIDE DOWN

Was thinking today, "I wish I could just turn this farking thing over"
Ended up cutting the tac welds I had on the engine mounts and welding the bottom brace bits of them up on the floor then put them back on the frame. Will now only have to weld a small amount upside down.

For an overhead fillet point the gun at about 35 to 40 deg to vertical. The arc force will help keep the molten metal in place. Don't try to go too fast and small circles can help. Other than that just try to treat it like any other weld. The hard bit is keeping steady - especially when metal is burning into the skin on the inside of your elbow! Brace your free arm on something and use it to steady the gun.

I`ll say the same thing to you that I said to my brother.
I hope you have a big dick, as it will make it easier for you to go and fark yourself.

Everytime I have tried to weld i burn tips, jam wire, set myself on fire, set something else on fire, burn holes in stuff (even the steel) and then give up, burnt, sore and angry.
The best way to weld upside down is "take it to sam" he has a "SPECIAL WELDING ROD"
