12HT 75 ute

Ive just started my newest project (hopefully a little more usable than the last) of a 12HT into a FJ75 ute. I've wanted to do this conversion for a while as i reckon the 12HT will go bannanas in a 75 ute.
I actually built the engine before i bought the ute because its taken me ages to find a straight un butchered example of a ute 100% rust free and in my price range.(checked out over 30 utes) and the other day i was lucky enough to see a 89 FJ75 on ebay with a starting bid of $1500 with no pics so we drove the 80 or so kays from Caboolture where i live down to Ipswich to check it out.
This 75 looked a bit ruf from afar with it's beige paint but once we went through everything it seemed a real honest truck that had sat in a shed for 9 years (still had the 2001 rego sticker on it) totally rust free and straight with a buggered 3f engine(been hit in the front and the engine mount had torn out of the block). I offered him $2000 and he snapped it up. Wished it was a HJ but hey im not to worried and it actually has a few benifets or so i thought, thei found out after i bought it that it had a slight bend in the chassis so chassis swap from a hj75 was in order ( worked out good anyway because the fj chassis never had a rear tank and this hj came with it. Will keep you posted and look forward to any tips and ideas from anyone with experience doing said conversion. I am a diesel fitter so it should be pretty straight forward but hey i dont mind asking sometimes

I'v done the same to my ute a couple of years ago.only pain you will have is fuel return line.i tee i back onto the pick up line from the tank.and power for the shut of witch has to be powered up all the time other wise it will start then shut down straight away.the plug for the old edic motor has 4 pins 1 is power with key on thats the one you need.

Mine was a petrol to start with mate, and the fuel line was easy cos the petrol already had it all  shitload more pains than that though, all worth it though cos this thing sounds and go's like a cheetah on cocaine

Like a rocket mate, it isnt even close to standard though. Made 167 hp at 14 psi and 670nm but my pyro hit nearly 600 deg. When the water to air go's on i will be running around 18 psi. My dad has the new 70 series ute with the 4.5 v8 and we had a bit of a run this arvo. There is going to be alot of upset 70 series owners if they line up next to me in the future  absolutly shat on the old boys v8.

It was off a gu patrol, it was white and pretty crappy when i bought it for $600. I cut it down the middle and took 150 mm out cos it was to wide for my 75 (wouldnt notice apart from the seam weld down the centre  )

ok after breaking 8 teeth off my front crown wheel, busting 2 cv's and bending the housing i have decided to do something with my front diff. I bought another complete hj75 diff and have stripped it out and right now the housing is sitting at superior engineering getting all the fruit done to it. Should be staunch when i get it back. Also got some longfields so there is my cv problem fixed and i'm doing away with the detroit and going to an air locker. Superior is also hooking me up with there heavy duty swivel hub kit .Should be almost bulletproof i reckon
i'll post some pics of it when i get the housing back

what did you do?

I run the small hzj75 diff, detroit locker, standard axles and 27spl longfeild cvs.

Never broken anything locker or diff related, never broken a standard axle, broken 2 longs from not running steering stops.

I beat on my shit pretty damn hard.
