Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I am looking to replace the 17" tyres on my GU Patrol. Does anyone know who is offering good deals at present.

My old man just put some bridgstones on his GU he ended up getting the from the Bridgstone dealer in kunda park (Maroochydore) on the sunny coast. They were the cheapest by far. Might be worth a call? Cant remember what he paid off the top of my head.

because that is how you shop around to save yourself money..if you want to save money you need to make an effort....

i always deal with Fourbys for anything in tyres..they have always given me great service and prices..

what sort of tyres were you after..

all terrains i recommend the Mickey T ATZ and for slightly more aggressive the Cooper STT.. i have had both these sets of tyres on my GQ and cant fault them

try apache tires, rocklea.

i got some 285/65 /17 dunlops off a 200 series cruiser
90-95 percent tread. still on genuine cruiser rims if you like

I see the problem. You're asking where to buy 4x4 tyres but what you really want is cafe terrains. Fourbys probably aren't a premium Bridgestone dealer because they don't move alot of them so aren't able to buy them at the crazy prices you found.

Best to stick to one of the main Bridgestone distributors for the beat deal on some duellers if that's what you're into, they're supposed to serve some fierce mocha-latte-cinos in the customer lounge.

On the other hand, if you change your mind and decide to buy real 4x4 tyres definately hit up Fourbys again and you will save money while enjoying complimentary beers, cigars and strippers in the Fourbys Customer Den.

lots of people here seem to have a great experience with forby's and thats why i went there for my swampers.....but after 3 months and no communication i cancelled my order and went else where. My mate got them for me in 5 days.....just didnt think to ask him first as he doesnt normally do specialist 4x4 tyres, mostly car tyres.

I would hardly call the Bridgestone D673 a "cafe terrain". I merely used Bridgestone as an example as I haven't had a chance to shop around for any other brand yet. Doubt if I would bother going back to them as the response received over the years has always been pretty similar.

well what type of driving do you do? Alot of highway? gravel roads? mud? Are you looking to get bigger tyres?

There is ALOT of good info floating around this site, and ALOT of people who have heaps of 4x4 experience - you just have to ask the right way.

also have a look at the 'tyre topics'- they have info/expriences/opinons of those who have had that tyre

fourbys@mooroka has my vote too- i got a set of MTZ's of Ryano at a good price with no dramas at all.....

Fair call, I figured you meant the H/T pattern. Those would definately be more of a outdoor bistro terrain. Good luck with the search mate.

My experiences with Fourbies are similar to the others stated above..
It's like they couldn't be arsed...

I have had great service and prices from Mario @ Ace tyres Tingalpa.

The Big Tyre Group @ Lawnton are good if you're chasing Maxxis, ask for Mike.

my thoughts oppositely...

spend 20 cents and ring them back and say "hey you were way overpirced on those tyres you quoted me, is there any chance you could possibly do them cheaper"

some stores get different buy prices or have to list retail prices at a higher rate than a preferred distributor of certain brands..Forbys probably arent a preferred distributor of the Bridgestones whereas your other cheaper place may well be..

I have done a deal with Jax at Ipswich. Theya re very keen to do business.

x2 on Big Tyre Group, Mike sold me Bighorns around $100 cheaper than I could get anywhere else and even helped with shipping to Gladstone which only cost $47. Later on he tracked down a second hand one to replace one of mine I damaged from another of his customers, which he made no money out of. Very happy with the service.
