I'm looking for a uhf antenna to fit to my d3 and was considering a glass mount antenna. Has anyone had any experience with these and how well do they work?

short range but good alternative if you dont have a bar or do not wish to have antennas comming off the front of the car

id avoid a glassmount aerial as they leak radiation into the cab whilst transmitting

And a dirty big high gain antenna on your bullbar or front guard doesn't? :?

The biggest issue with glassmount is the size of the antenna = lower gain, not a huge issue for relatively close-range work.

thats why they put the mounts on the bullbar so that it is more than a meter from your up right pillars otherwise they act as conductors as well

Not to mention handhelds

But on glass serve a purpose where placement is more important than performance.. they also never seem to tune up real well either so that hampers their performance too
