ok my carb has crapped itself once again and im sick of it having a mind of its own!
im left with these choices
1) buy a new carb same as original BIG$$$$$$$$$$$
2) wack a Holley on it
3) get a second hand carb, re kit it and chuck it on

if any one has the above that can help me out please pm me!

im leaning towards the Holley, has anyone got one on there tb42? is it any good?

thanks in advance

Go LPG, it will run upside down unlike stupid carbys, second best bet is the factory carb rebuilt. (shop around) or if you have to go holley, make sure its one off those off road jiggers.

peace.

My engine on lpg tends to run rough if not stall on some extreme angles. Not sure why, but it does run better on petrol. Don't put the holley on, they definately don't like big angles. I haven't had much to do with the 4wd range of holleys though they may work ok. Maybe someone else has? I'd like to know about them too. I've looked at the EA Falcon single point throttle body injection set up and heard they are easy to set up, but funds are restricting that venture at the moment.

holleys are cheap pieces of junk. They splutter on any angle over 30deg. Go gas or std. They are so much better!

mmmmmm What about tripple side draught webbers or even a ITB setup with a plenum chamber set up? Maybe even a carby based fuel injection kit like on this site?!

Not really for the budget concious though. :D

I've tried that. On gas they don't run upside down

Completely miss informed comment!
Holley Offroad Truck Avengers will run perfectly on any angle you are brave enough to drive, I fitted one to my 350 Chev GQ it was brilliant in the bush !!

The truck avenger holleys are over $600 new found here

http://www.hume.com.au/index.php?cPath=21_57_68

You can get a 4 barrel type injection carby for a similar price plus the ECU of course from here

http://www.efihardware.com/products/c96 ... tle-bodies

I know you have the extra cost of the ECU and wiring but I'm sure you could find cheaper than that as well and the benefits would be much better. Or as others have said buy an EFI system off a later model with the electronic ignition as well. Or better yet get a 4.8.

The holley option should be a bolt on stand alone system that would have a throttle position sensor and all the wiring needed. I don't know heaps about them but a central point fuel injection system is the very poor brother to a multi point injection system. The only reall advantage you would get would be that you could possibly tune it better than a carby as you'd have more adjustment and it would work on various angles. This is an old school setup that would just require it to be fitted and power supplied through the ignition as it would be a closed loop setup. I don't know the details on how good or bad it is as far as how much adjustment you would have. A better option would be for an EFI setup of a later model GQ and then just use nistune.
