Razor blade to remove the plastic film, windex (a LOT) on the glue and scrape off. USe some steel wool on the harder bits. If you were in QLD id send you some tint glue remover. Careful of the rear screen with the heater elements in them. USe steel wool only

Whole car takes me around 30 mins to strip. Id guess it will take you around 3hrs (ive done 100's)

Thanks for the tips, will try windex as the old tint is very hard even with the razor blade, if its still too hard to remove it i will try some of the others from the link.

After you remove the film, eucalyptus oil will remove the glue real easy.

Its Flamin' awesome at getting the glue marks off, then just windex to remove the residue eucalyptus oil.

Careful with the razor blade. I did one of my windows with a razor blade (and a hair dryer, ammonia) and it left scratches on it.

For the others (not finished all of them yet) I used a plastic scraper, hair dryer, ammonia and one of those green scourers and it worked very well with no scratches.

On a similar note, can you buy window tint to apply yourself? I remember my old man doing the windows in our car years ago. Can you buy good quality and or darker shades too?

Windex and the razor blade worked very well took about and hour to do two windows on the rocky, just have to get some steel wool and have a go at the back window that has the rear demist.
got some dark tint from supercheap about a year ago for the nissan and it worked well, not sure if you can buy purple tint or if its just how cheap tint goes after 20 years.

careful on the rear demist! last thing you'd want to do is scratch it up with the wool or razor!

i'd prefer to use some hot steam. oil would work on the sticky stuff but i'd prefer metho as its easier to clean up afterwards with a wet towel

Pay them $50 to remove it off all 8 windows in the GU, before they apply the new tint. Works for me!

Haven't got to do the rear window as yet (been to slack) but hope to get to it by the weekend. will go slow and try a few different ways to get the tint off but not the demister.
