Clicking noise and no drive

Out on the weekend and both myself and another GQ shortie experienced the same problem. Under load we heard a clicking noise from the front-end of our GQs . . . both have front lockers which were engaged at the time. It only happened for me once and seemed to occur when under a fair amount of load. I actually watched the other guy's truck do the same thing (by chance) and noticed that it seemed to come from the front left-hand hub. It also seemed to stop the drive to that wheel momentarily. For the rest of the trip we had no problems and there are no other noises that would lead me to thinking that a CV was broken. I was thinking that maybe the hubs are to blame and may need a service. Has anyone seen this or similar?

They usally start to click just before they Explode!!!!! Keep your fingers crossed that it is a hub problem, but also be prepaired for a C.V
Better make sure before your up to your arse in it, in the bush.
Been with guys and having to pull C.Vs out on location,Mud in the dark,by fading light. Not good

Best of luck

Pull Hub and check it winds in and out freely. Oil sparingly with engine oil or a smear of grease.

Inspect clutch spline for damage that may be preventing full engagement.

What's a service? I thought was something you do when you are replacing the broken parts???

hubs are notorious on patrols, buy a spare and wait till it explodes, replace and repeat the mashing on it!

Is there a stronger after-market option?

i to have noticed a clicking noise in my front end when i turn (even when not moving) could this be a CV, are they drivable once the CV goes (2wd) and how hard and how much to replace in a mq (sorry to hijak), but may as well have one post about it not two
