OME or some custom units.

Maybe put up some details of your vehicle and driving style/conditions so we know what you're planning on doing with it.

With the info you've provided it could be a mall crawler, or an entry into TT.

If its a solid axle front, then have you thought about putting your rear springs in the front(RUF), and getting some IFS rear springs and putting them in the back(IFS rears). Do a search on RUF and IFS rears, theres heaps of threads on these topics, even in the lux bible.
If its IFS/torsion bar front, then Id go with EFS or Dobinsons.

I'm with Coxy and Steve. OME or custom units, depending on application and set up.

that is probably a good idea in posting some extra info

I get out at least once every two months, nothing ever really serious but some good fun.

It runs simple 2inch lift and 32" all terrains with a lil extra weight on the back due to a spare wheel carrier

its also ISF front

thanks again.

i have OME dakars all round on my 2" lifted hilux, and never had anything to complain about.

FWIW, the greasable shackles made more of a difference than the springs did too.

Ran a fair few Monroes on my truck before i fitted the OME's, and thats a load of crap- Monroe might manufacture OME shocks, but OME sure as hell dont let Monroe use their dampening and valvings for their Monroe branded stuff.

I ended up with a fair few monroes because the bloody things started to leak before 50k kms... The last set of OME's i killed on the front end leaked after a trip to lake eyre, but that was after 100,000kms of use, and driving up and down the oodnadatta track and strezleki tracks, then all through the flinders at 100kph on god awful corrugations.

I don't really understand why the fact that Tenneco automotive make monroe shocks and OME really matters.

Tenneco will make whatever you want to whatever quality you require, so long as you are willing to pay.

I read an interesting article about shock absorbers - Peugeot used to make their own shock absorbers and made them to very high tolerances (and during that time they led the world for ride/handling balance). Ford (whose current European products are highly praised for their handling) pay more per shock absorber for their products to be made to a higher tolerance than the shocks made for other OEM's, because they are chasing better handling.

The message is that if you have the volume you can specify exactly the quality you want. That's what OME do.

Steve.

go with the Dobinsons. they have a better Qaulity control and are made from australian steel.
