Why belt this guy up... he has asked a question but doesnt mean that he has no idea, we all need to start somewhere.
I have done a SPOA on a serria and it is not as easy as you may think, the hardest part is getting the steering working and then theres a mountain of small things that need attention. You should contact the queensland verision of the RTA to see if its legal to start with then go from there...

I've been researching SPOA conversions and I have some questions I can't find satisfactory answers to. Spring perches, traction bars, shock mounts, lengths, and bumpstops all seem straightforward enough (really!) but I'm stumped by the steering. I've seen the Snake Racing knuckle, but it's quite a lot of money, and I've been concerned reading (only a month or so ago) that Droopypete, and others, have had alignment issues that even expensive machining hasn't been able to resolve. Also, I'm not so sure about the Merc arms. One on the passenger side knuckle looks like an acceptable solution, assuming the required machining to change the bolt pattern centres is affordable and feasible, but using two to achieve "proper" high steer looks like it will adversely affect my Ackerman angle.
I noticed that in Droopypete's thread, he's gone to the RHD OTT steering kit from Lowrange Offroad. Has any one else used one of these? They seem like reasonable value.
Does anyone else have any input on safe, strong steering setups with a SPOA setup?
Blu100 - this is a forum not an advice line. We have to know you are willing to help yourself. Show us you are able to research and discuss, and you will get all the help you need. Every question Ihave ever asked on this forum has been well answered. As far as I (and others, based on the responses you have received already) am concerned, if you can't do some research you aren't ready to do the modification.

hey kids, blu's my mate we done the conversion on my zook. for anyone that said it was hard they lied only gremlin was the steering.. we bort a 'high steer kit' off here the kit is superiorengineering, easy as puss to fitt. car sits heaps higher but lacks tyres, makes the 31s look small again! will post pics up soon. any other help/suggestions would be appreciated

i take it you did a quality 'box tube' spring perch system? if it was dead easy i think thats is all that was done. also, i hope you pointed the rear pinion up towards the t/case....... i also take it you kept the shock mounts the same........
they are easy to do when done poorly, and difficult to do when done correctly.

me and my mate sprung over my 86 sierra hardtop in 1 day last week and it cost me $5 to do it and left the steering the way it was just had to take the steering wheel off and put back on straight it. went 4wding the next day and it was extremely great and ill do it again and again but i made a mistake and made 2 inch extended shackles 2 days ago and now i need high steer lol i might just take the shackles back out till i can affort the high steer

I talked to an engineer about spring over a few years ago and he said, to make it road legal in NSW, you have to run a Pan hard rod (from diff to chassis) as the spring over creates more stress on all the suspension, chassis included, one of the suzuki tuff trucks a few years ago had this in the front with hilux diffs, cut down into a little trayback , it was red.
In my opinion, for a trailer queen, it can be done quick and cheap and eventually go to some thing else, but to drive it on the road you will need to do it properly (steering) and it won't be cheap, as road safety is what the boys in blue have in mind.

yeah sounds awesome, really sounds like you know what you are doing. Did it not concern you that the steering wheel had moved considerably, enough you had to take it off and re center it?
