As stated who uses a SD for towing at 10 psi boost??? As you all know towing at 20 psi did not work well for me!

Plan on towing 16' caravan around for 6months, between Vic and qld. Basically has anyone had any engine trouble at this boost level. As i dont fancy another 2 piece crankshaft.

Cheers Sterlo

should not be any problem.
I thought the factory boost pressure was 8 psi

thanks marc

factory 6psi, cant see 10 being an issue but i had to ask the question given the trouble ive had.

NOTE use nissan rear main seal!!!! Bit harder to do it in there rather than upside down in a stand.

Turbo oil pump is bigger too so have fitted 1 since i have a N/A block

it's good to know the oil pump is different between N/A and SD.
I got me a spare N/A to rebuild as an SD in case the original SD is going to retyrement.

maybe try adding a oil temp gauge. i did to mine and running std boost exhaust, etc i could get the oil temp up to 120 degrees pretty easy towing a box trailer. at that time the water temp was around the 90 degrees mark.

Have you cleaned oil cooler on the block?
120 deg C is a bit high.

All good info. Yes turbo pump is bigger. N/A oil pump only has about 30 psi pressure at max torque around the 1800-2000 rpm. But when fitted to a N/A the power is around 3000rpm by that point it has it 50psi. Althought a very wide bearing still didnt do mine much good, shells were marked after only 5000klms. All good now.

Yes the heat exchange is always a topic of conversation, but mine dont have one anymore. It plated off with a 400x400 air to oil cooler infront of rad. Have got a desert coolers rad well worth the money too keep the old sd's cool.

Ally rad is worth the 650$ cash. Since i fitted one coolant has never gone over 80degr c. One side of rad too hot to touch other side very cold, warm can put face on it!!

Turbo cam worth it on the old SD as well much more low down torque
