It's a 3.5 V6 manual and seems like a good thing. We've always had patrols (except for a Hiliux and a Surf nearly 10 years ago), so I don't know much about Paj's.

She bought as a family car and it's better on camping trips than her VZ SS!! She'd only be towing a box trailer (we have 8 kids and normally take at least 5 on trips).

What are the issues that I need to watch for and what are the solutions?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Dave - welcome to the world of Mitsubishi.

The NM, although the first of the Gen 3 "monocoque" Pajeros, has proved to be a competent and reliable 4wd. The engine, transfer & front drivetrain are essentially the same strong and reliable stuff from the Gen 2, and even the IRS rear has a similar diff with similar strength.

I'm not aware of any significant problems to watch out for, but we don't have too many Gen 3s here. You should head to the Pajero Club Forum - they have a lot more information about the later models than we do.

Dave, like you times change and our newish diesel 2007 NS Pajero VRX has recently become our family touring vehicle after many years in a GQ.
I've still got the GQ for a daily driver as it's quite cheap to run (on LPG) and I'll use it till it dies eventually.
We've only had the Paj a month or so but it drives really nicely compared to the GQ and with the torque of the diesel it will be a much better proposition to tow our caravan.
Scott is right about the Pajero Club forum, like all vehicle specific forums there's lots of good info available there.
I've posted a link below.
Regards Andrew.

Ta for you replies Gents

I've still got the GU (which will become my project/toy and more of a fun/tourer now than the Mav'), she just wanted something to take on camping trips that can help haul stuff (and kids!!).

It does seem like a nice car, but I'll venture over to the Pajero forum for some more specific intell!

Thanks again.
