ahh k, i figured that man, I was just thinkin of trying some new type of shocks. sick of normal ones dying....
Have u put them in yet? whats the go with them, do u have to put ATF fluid in them ur self? is that how u tune them?

They come with ATF fluid in them already. Most of the turning is done via Nitrogen pressures from the external Schroeder valve at the top. You can pull the piston out and modify the veins also.
These shocks are fully rebuild-able, come with stainless replaceable orbital joints top and bottom and a set of misalignment spacers.
Chris ran these in his rock crawling lux at west oz challenge over here in WA. B4 putting these in he could only achieve a speed of about 60 b4 it became too unstable. At west oz he was doing well over 140.
They rnt finished as wanky as foxes or kings, but these shocks are just as good if not better and less than 1/2 the price!

These ARE a full air shock. We can build them in 2" or 2 1/4" bodies. We are just finishing up a custom set of 2 1/4" x 20" air shocks for a customer

so you bought shocks that you have no idea what there for or how there to be used? and then you are commenting on how they work??
Generally if it has an 1" shaft or bigger then it will work fine.

Dude... why the hosility?
They are a brand new shock that has barely entered the market here in aus, i was given these by a sponsor.
They are still in testing stages here so we dont really know how they will go...

So i know very little about these shocks..
Can someone pls fill me in! what sort of application are they for? do they support the weight of the car so there is no need to run coils?
Are they any good for a weekend warrior / tourer type car?
thanks for any input guys

haven't had one apart yet so i can't comment (chris was going to send me one to look at

) . But air shocks in general need quite a bit of valving / tuning to make them 'good' enough for touring. They are fine for a play rig, rock rig but the vavling is usually quite soft and the low speed bleeds are too big. Its not a hard job to fix, but you do have to know what your doing and have the right tools.

A mate back when I lived in Blighty built a Comp-Trialer using Fox 14" air-shocks, it had IFS and RIS with Daihatsu hubs 37" tyres, powered by a BMW straight 6 with a Dumper transfer case!!!
The Shocks worked really well!!! as did the vehicle (will see if I've got any pic's) but its all down to how you set them up as they run oil in them too...
this article will tell you everything ... Pirate 4x4 as always... again!
http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavist ... index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
They work well and are simpler and lighter than coil-overs but maybe not quite as tune-able!

Cranky im also looking at Fox Shox for my 80 series at present, iv pretty much settled on the Fox 2.0 pro series with remote res either the 12" travel or the 14" not sure, may go 12" up front and 14" rear but i foud ithard to get specific info on these as they seem to be mostly run on patrols as far as running them on larger trucks go so there hasn't been as much info on their paring with the 80s as id like but iv talked to the right people and am pretty much settled now, just waiting on a few emails but im looking to purchase this week. so depending on how soon your looking to upgrade ill let you know how i go with these as well as the mounting mods to give you a little more info.

you should check these out as well!

Definately worth consider, they are extremely well built and are specifically made and valved for what you are wanting to do. They are also adjustable which makes them a great option for a good 'all-rounder' rig. At elast you have local support and full backup, mick has all the parts to custom make/supply any variation to suit, and he always stands by his gear!
Or if money is no object! then he can supply Kings Race shocks, so skys the limit....

yep can get almost any sizing. (sorry don't understand the '610mm' though? is that open length or closed length or stroke).

The Nob's on the site say they are 610 long open length. JUSt making sure that other size's were available.
I'll be in contact!

Don't the two tables posted above already show many different sizes as being available, some longer than 610mm open?

I'm confused.
Are these SRC air shocks, and the originally posted Redback air shocks, both designed to fully replace a standard spring/shock combination?
The photos of the SRC on the website seem to show that they just replace normal shocks, and still need springs, is that correct?
Are the Redback air shocks the same, or do they replace normal springs?

Sorry I haven't gotten back to this thread. Redbacks can be used as a shock, a full air shock, or a air/coilover hybrid. We can build these in lengths up to 20".

I do ever so sincerely apologise! I have been using my phone to tview this, and it only show's me part of the pic. Also why I said Nob's instead of spec's.
CAn I ever be forgiven?

If they can take the weight of a cruiser (even only for a short distance). Is it possible to hook them upto endless air for a quick suspension lift for crossing deep water? and then deflate them and use them as normal shocks again with your coils?

I don't think so, they run Nitrogen in them (probably wrong though)

Yep they are nitrogen filled.
If you were to add an oxygen rich gas like 'air' you would be on your way to building a nice little 1 cylinder diesel motor.

Why? The air you breathe is about 70% nitrogen.

Would they work fine under a stock height tourer or are they more for slow work rock crawling where they won't get to hot? Can't wait to hear from people who have tried em!

depends how you valve them, they can be tuned for a variety of applications, im going to run them on my daily driver and have asked for them to be setup accordingly , ill post a detailed report when mine are in after a few weeks...

Yep and its that 30% that only needs to be put in the right conditions to go blammo...
Do u still believe that your car runs on diesel/petrol?
In reality as a ratio, your car runs on air.... but uses a fuel as a catalyst to burn the air
lol
