Re: winch batterys
Opitma yellow top. They are a dual purpose battery with both deep cycle and high cranking properties.
If you can fit it, get the D31A.

Re: winch batterys
We used the optima yellow tops in this years OBC and i couldn't faullt them.
It was production class (full bodied GU wagon ie. HEAVY)so we had a 6hp motor on a standard highmount with an allbrite solenoid and we easily winched the sand wall as well as the mud stages without failure.

This thread is a tad old but what the heck.
Who is running optima yellow tops and what's your opinion of them ?
I'm about to buy a pair and I just want to know if it's a good move.

Re: winch batterys
My old man ran one and reckons they're no better power wise.than a standard battery. I've been looking at another battery for a dual battery setup and you can get much.higher cranking and more ah for the.same money in agm style battery. For. Same price I can get a truck battery which apart from the.problem of size offers 1300cca and 200ah
93 RV, 5 in tough dog lift, dobinsons shocks and coils, PA, dual fuel, many many oil leaks and a ton of character.
Re: winch batterys
The only reason to buy one in my opinion would be for the safety aspect in the event of a rollover.

renew thread..
CAT make some pretty cheap batteries.
1000CCA rating, about 140 ish dollars.
you wont find a battery on the planet that can compete on price, grunt and warranty.
