g52 different ratios?

Got an 89 lux 3rz (originally 22R) and G52, speedo was within 3km/h of GPS reading. Killed the first G52 so i got another out of a diesel. Now the speedo is out approx 10% through all gears. I thought maybe the speedo drive on the back of the transfer was a different ratio between petrol and diesel so i swapped it with my original one that was giving an accurate speed reading, made no difference. Do the petrol and diesel G52's have different ratio's?

There is a late model g52 which possibly could have different ratios, but im not 100% sure.
Although most box's with different ratio's, have a different code, among other things, like w56,w57,w58 etc etc.

it shouldnt matter what ratio the box is, as the speedo drive is in the transfer, running off the output shaft speed, the only thing that will effect speedo when its here is the final drive ratio, meaning diff gears and tyres
the problem you have may be caused buy the other gear for the speedo drive, the one on the shaft inside the box, the diesel and petrol would be different to compensate for the diff gears

That sounds about right... g52's don't have different ratios, ou then have different boxes as berad said...

So the diesel and petrol transfers had a different speedo drive ratio? I wouldnt have thought so, it would make more sense to make the adjustment in the instrument cluster.
Is it possible to swap the transfers without pulling the gearbox?

I know the casings in the later G52's are different to early ones. For such a crap box... I don't know why they used them in the 105's

i have the same problem (mines 20% under) when i replaced my g52 with the r151f in my bundy, i was hoping it would be the speedo drive, so i could replace it as you have, but it must be the cog/gear inside the transfer
im probably going to make a sticker up for the face of my speedo gauge too adjust the dial to the actual speed

YES !!!
In short:
console out , rear transfer stick out, drain transfer oil, front and rear shafts off, wires off, support gear box with stand/jack, Xmember off, unbolt 6 bolts to detach transfer from box, pull back and lower via jack being carfull not to damage oil seal where the shaft goes into the back of the box.

So if I am reading correct the transfer ratios between a petrol and diesel are different and the gearbox ratios are the same?
I recently shagged the box and transfer in my diesel lux with the same out of a 4Y hilux. The speedo is now a shitload out and the ratios feel alot taller. If I was the get a diesel transfer and whack it in it should fix my ratio problems right?

only the diff ratios are different, its the gear that the speedo drive runs off thats different

Look at this link
http://www.trail-gear.com/pdf/470kit.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; step 3 and step 9 thats the speedo drive parts. I'm fairy sure you can just swap the part showen in step 3 and that will be the right part to suit your original diff gears.
