Lot's, even a well tuned one. My brother IL has one but it's dual fuel, he says the power is not much different but the gas system is top of the range. Can find out more info if you like.

They are pretty thirsty, but are a tough reliable engine. You have to remember it's moving almost 3 tonnes of cruiser around....but it does a great job of that. When my old 80 was loaded up and we were pushing it hard in the sand i reckon i could see the fuel needle drop. It's a big six though, with great power from idle. If fuel economy is your thing maybe look into LPG or get a diesel.

I rekon you'd be getting 20 on average in a 105. I best about 18 in my 80 (which is lighter)
You can gas them, but the head needs to be in top shape. About 3 grands worth drive in and out.
Unless you want the solid front axle, get the v8. much better engine, and works better on a proper gas injection system.

ive had gas on my 4.5 petrol 105 for 2 years now and no head issues and i did nothing to them. only costs i have indured was i killed a mixer (the seals died and i got the new one machined to get better flow at appropriate RPM. i get 350-400kms out of 100L LPG costs about $60-70 to fill up.
they are thursty as all hell and just the same on fuel.

My 105 last test run was 270kms/70L gas (approx 26L/100), and my 75 ute was 25L/100. I haven't done a petrol/100km test in the 105, but the ute gets approx 16L/100.
These are good mostly highway figures, the 105 seems to not chew too much more gas around town, though the ute definitely uses more gas around town.

My 105 manual gives me 18L/100km on the highway and 20 around town.
Best ever was 17.5L/100. That was cruising at 100kph. Worst was about 25 but that was really stomping it.
Thirsty buggers but have good power and a much lower price than the diesels.
