33's on mq patrol

Post by mqharko »

I have a 1983 mq patrol with a 2 inch suspension lift. I am currently running 31 inch goodyear wranglers but i want to upgrade to 33 inch maxxis bighorns. Will i be able to fit 33's on the mq no worries? Will it scrape at all at full lock or full articulation? Will i notice much power loss? I have a diesel LD28 in the patrol, which is a 2.8L non turbo straight 6. Also considering getting extractors and 2.5inch exhaust. Would it be worth it?
All help is appreciated.
Cheers, Tom.

I ran some 33x12.5 Motorway Mongrels on my old MK wagon for quite a while. They were fitted on 15x8 King rims.

I didn't have any dramas aside from the rear tyres sometimes rubbing on the inner edge of the flares (i have the wide body flares). The car was a bit slower off the mark, and braking was a tad less responsive, but the benefits covered those issues no worries. That was with an SD33T motor.
