39.5x18 on 15x14 rims.

What are your thoughts on these tyres?

Are they really as crap on rock as people say?

Ive never used them myself, but alot of people do use them, and are happy with them, I have heard that because of the tread pattern, they tend to slide sideways on rocks. Possibly the same thing you heard.

Quality of maufacture technicques and chemical component of rubber compounds are below what is now the industry standard.

Not as bad as the hater's or web wheeler's carry on about, but if rock is going to be the most dominant terrain then "siping" is necessary to get them to work as well as some other brands / pattern's available of the shelf.

i heard that they slide sideways in the mud too not sure as i have never used them but i reckon i'd like a set

Yeah they are ok but not actually designed for rock, mine were fine until trying to crawl out of water onto rocks etc. then they would slip everywhere.

I have seen them modified with extra grooving in each lug to help with the sideways gripping. From my experience if you want the best tyre on rock and it has to be a swamper, go the TSL or the Irok, fantastic and proven performance.

unless it's purely for mud, u couldn't go past sticky 40" treps, probably similar in price too!! less power draw on your boosted diesel too!!

They are cheap and come with some expensive rims.

the tyres may be cheap but the drive line upgrades will not be cheap to run such a large tyre, 37s are really boarderline for the standard drive line

i already have longfeilds and im 1/2 way through installing hydro assist.

I have nitrated 4.88's in the diffs with full detroits.
Not sure what else you can do to beef toy gear..

only thing i can think left to upgrade is chromo hub gears or replace with hub flanges..maybe thicker driveshaft and tailshaft.

where are the tyres for sale and how cheap are they?

i have chromo hub gears and custom drive shafts too.

The tyres are $2k for sale locally here in perth

A few guys ran them at Tuff Truck this year seemed to do ok but no were near as good as a Trep or Irock comp spec.

Tom remember our rock comp more than likely will be wet with some moss on the rocks comp spec is the only way to go and with only 1 mud section dont think there is much advantage in going Boggers.Jay has already said that this years mud will be more technical think hes thinking more like Tuff Truck was with rocks and logs and only one deep section of mud.Hell last year we ideled though.

The rocks is were the points will be won and lost with no handi caps this year.

Dana 60's and an atlas will help

or maybe throw nissan stuff under it. i hear stock nissan cv's are stronger than 2.5 tonne rockwells

Yeah i thought about d60's but rebuild costs would be through the roof.

I dont mind putting some GU axles under it, i think the centered rear will still work.

Otherwise maby make my own housings

but this meens getting custom axles made. Id be able to make the housings wider and get rid of the spacers too.

But they are the best looking tyres, they just look mean .. not sure thats the highest priority in tyres tho!!

i was being sarcastic about the nissan stuff...

if you've got the high pinion front, throw something (40, 60, early 75) with the big cruiser centre under the front, and build it properly, and it should do you.
