doing an engine conversion with a Gen3 LS1 and want to run a Patrol transfer (GU/GQ). So I need to make a decision on the auto to fit between the two. Either an adapter for the Gen3 to Patrol auto, or T700 to Patrol transfer from practical terms doesn't worry me. So which is the better auto to have to stand up to the Chev?

T700 is inherantly weak in 3rd, Patrol box can be built stronger. I'd use a 4L80E if had the choice as is good up to 600hp stock.

i'm running the 4l60e with internals upgraded to 4l65 and haven't had any issues, much easier conversion as the engine and auto are all matched up and you have no issues controling the auto, i have heard of a lot of nightmares trying to get factory auto's trying to talk to transplanted motors. if dollars are no object go or it's going to get comped go the 4l80e. the other advantage of running the commodore box is that any tuner with ls1 edit software can also tune the auto.

I have a T700 that has been made over by a place in victoria, google extreme t700, that has been worked over to handle 600hp at least. Just had a quick look through the forums and they also say that the standard nissan box can handle 350kw.

I would have posted the link but im only new and not sure if that is frowned apon
