I'm trying to find out if a HJ60 4 speed with fairey o/drive will bolt straight into a HJ47? Both vehicles have a 2H engine.
I've searched the threads and haven't found anything.
Any help appreciated.

It will bolt straight in ,other than the gearstick will sit further back towards the seats as the top plates have different stick locations(need to move the hole in the floor too) you can swap the top plates over or fit the fairey OD to the back of your 47 box.

you might not have a handbrake on the back of the HJ60 transfer case...

just my 2¢ worth: i wouldnt put in an overdrive as theyre pretty old now and they reckon you cant get parts. i'd put in a 5 speed out of a hj60 or hj75, thats what im going to do anyway but youve gotta cut the hole where the gearstick comes up back a bit as the 5 speed gearstick is set back about 90mm further. supposedly if you can get a top plate off a bj40, bj42 or fj40 5 speed gearbox you dont have to cut the hole. pretty hard to find one though.
if you do the 5 speed youve gotta either put the transfer case off the hj47 onto the 5 speed so youve got a handbrake, or you can use the whole diff housing off a hj75 or 60 as the handbrake is on the wheels but youll have to have the spring saddles shifted to suit. i also think youve gotta lengthen/shorten the handbrake cable. when i do mine im going to swap whole diff as the handbrake on the transfer is a :bad-words: heap of :bad-words:
anyway thats my 2¢

You wont have to swap the complete axle, as long as the HJ47 is a fully floating axle you can just swap the HJ60 backing plates and brakes onto the housing

not true. there are two different bolt patterns on the end of the full floating axle housings. SOME j4x rear full float housings won't take a j6x rear drum setup
