G'day guys I recieved an email from A.R.B the other day on an enquiry on the price of front and rear diff locks for my 40 series... supplied fitted and hooked up to the wiring loom that already exsists... Price.... $3204.00....

..... I know i could put in a detroit or lock-right in the rear and go A.R.B. Air locker up front , to save a little money but does any one know of another option. that doesn't include welding up the diffs i already have?

If you already have the wirring loom hooked up then its easy as. I assume you have the compressor still hooked up with the loom. Just rip your diff centres out and take them in and get your locker mechanism bench fitted. Re install them and all you have to do is plug in the switches and run your press fit high pressure pipe. That will save you some $$$

You want to save some money buy your lockers from the states heeps cheaper from all reports and as suggested pull the centers your self and take to a diff guy to setup and fit the centers back in your self stick some oil in and away you go.
Posable saving about $1000
PS a detroit locker will cost about the same as the arb even more if you soarse 1 in Australia (new)

I'm looking for a second hand ARB air locker myself and have been told to watch out for a batch of fake lockers.
Ask for the serial no. stamped on the diff. locker and then check it with ARB. If they can't give you a serial no. be a little weary.
Ive just this week found two pretty cheap on ebay and have been communicating with the sellers about the items but the minute I ask them for the serial no. they just don't answer me.

I put second hand lockers in my 60 front and rear, just kept an eye out and got them one at a time, i couldnt afford to drop it into the shop and hand over the 4grand that one of my mates did at around about the same time in his 60, and the deal he got even came with a free compressor... Got one in a centre, and one not fitted in a centre, got it fitted with new bearings and put both the centres in myself and got away with it for well under 2G. If your not in a huge hurry i think its definately worth keeping your eye out for second hand gear. I even ended up with a spare compressor out of it.

Hey Tsalty,
sorry if what i said came across the wrong way. its just what i was told to look for when looking for second hand ones or new ones for cheap. i honestly cant afford or even want to pay top dollar for new ones so hopefully i have the same luck and get some that don't give me any trouble. there's a tjm air locker on ebay at the moment, what are they like compared to the arb ones?
