Hi there, i have a similar problem but know whats wrong - o-ring seal (mine is an old style).

can you tell me if you have the locker switch in the on position before you turn your compressors on? if this is the case it likely the double lip seal have not been installed correctly.

Any decent shop when installing a locking diff will replace worn bearing - so i'd be checking your invoice.

driving backwards to engage? -BS

worn diff? - maybe but sound like BS.

extended shackles? -BS

The great thing with the air lockers is that they work! and work very well. your shop needs to fix the problem. - make sure its not something silly like an air line not connected properly or a split line first.

good luck - Dave.

Smells like BS to me.
The locker (especially if it is new) with the timed gear tech should lock virtually instantly. even the older design would lock in less than about a 3rd of a rotation of the wheel.

When installed properly they work fine and hassle free, you cant blame the locker for installer problems.

Sounds like the shop is feeding you BS. If the diff is worn, why didnt they tell you when they had it all in pieces in their bench? If the shackles did present a problem why didnt they tell you straight away? (Shackles dont actually have an effect just saying)

If it is normal behavior (it isnt) wouldnt your front locker work the same?

Sounds like at least they are willing to fix it...

What size tyres are you running? Strange question I know but when I had my old car with a rear air locker, I had issues after a few weeks. They wouldn't warranty my locker as I was running 33's at the time (31's standard) and that was more than the 5% increase in size allowed by the ARB warranty. They said that the larger tyres had put more stress on the locker and that caused my then problems. Bit of arguing and they fixed it but said if I kept running those tyres, my warranty was void....just be careful.

those guys are diffinatly telling you lies, the only way a locker wont engage is there is not the correct amount of pressure been supplied.
If the pressure switch is working properly then it only leaves the line in to the centre or the seals in the locker.
They may have damaged the copper pipe while fitting the locker or they have damaged the seals.
The slightest of damage to the seals will stop it working, however you can check this buy turning the locker on and listen for air coming out of the diff breather that will indercate internall damage ,tyre size wont affect the locker from workingat all and it will engage pretty much instantly after hitting that magic button.

Hope this helps
cheers
