RRC 87 Manual into 88 Auto

Hi Everyone,

I have a 87 RRC 3.5 EFI V8 with a LT77S spd strapped to it. Not without its engine problems but i think the swap will fix them. Unfortunately she has rot in the chassis and some floor plan, hence the swap to one that is structurally very clean.

I am swapping the engine and gearbox into a 88 RRC that had a 3.9(instead of its original 3.5) running on the 3.5 EFI system and a 4sp Auto box.

My engine (in the 87) runs like crap at the moment, but i think thats due to thin oil, and aged ignition and wiring, plus probably needs a tune; the process of swapping and checking should solve it. The engine itself was rebuilt 6months ago.
I don't know the history of the 3.9 and it wasn't fabulous.

I plan on using all the wiring out of the 88 as it seems to be in better condition and what surprised me the most, when i got it everything, all wipers, lights, everything worked.

My Questions with the change over are:
- can i just use the 88's wiring as long as i properly fix the auto Neutral cut out? or has the wiring got more differences than that?
- Is there any hidden tricks i should worry about for the clutch swap or is it the bolt out bolt in swap it looks to be?
- And finally are the brakes for the 88 auto better than the 87 manual? can i use them if i just swap over my smaller pedal from the manual?

Any ideas or help would be great

Cheers
Sam

The wiring loom for the engine will just unplug at the firewall so you can swap that easily, the brakes are identical so no advantage there .
