Good Afternoon all.

I am currently trying to replace the front Brake rotors on my ute.

I have pulled the Wheel off, And removed the 6 bolts holding the rotor to the hub.

I have removed the 6 bolts holding the locking hub mechanism onto the hub.
I have Tapped the Rotor off the hub and it free.

Now I can't work out how to remove the whole hub to pull the rotor off.
I have read my workshop manual but It has nothing on what I am upto.

Whats stopping me from getting to the hub nuts is what is described as a 'Bush' in the manual I have, Looks like an outer race of a bearing to me. But obviously isn't.

If anyone has any idea how to remove this 'Bush' or anything comments/help are much appreciated.

Cheers
Jonathan

when you remove the free wheeling hub it will expose the two bearing nuts and a locking tab. you might have to wipe the grease out to see it better. On some vehicles you have to remove the dial/face of the free wheeling hub first to remove a circlip, before the free wheeling hub will slide off.

Once off, You have to bend the locking tabs off the sides of the nuts before you can remove them. Once they are off the outer bearing will come out, probably with a spacer of some sort too. then the whole hub will slide off.

When you bolt on the new rotor, make sure the mating surface between it and the hub is clean. any dirt in there will cause a pedal vibration or pulse.

When it comes to putting the hub back on you have to torque the inner most bearing nut (the adjusting nut) to a specific amount. (around 50foot pound will be fine) If it's too loose the wheel will wobble and wear the bearing, if it's too tight the bearing will over heat and wear. Both are a danger at high speed.

Try and find a gq workshop manual. It will have diagrams and torque settings galore.

to adjust the inner nut i just use the weight of the ratchet/spanner and then go a little bit more you don't want to go too tight and if it's too loose you will know when the wheel is attached you will get sideways play
