changing ratios for 33's - info ?

Have a hilux surf (manual) from what i gather the ratio is 4.11 at the moment. Am getting tyred of the engine straining to push 33's up big hills and on the highway. what have people changed their ratios to !? I hear 4.88 is hte common one for this size tyre and to bring gearing back to normal. any info , also cost/how difficult it is to do.

look at the factory manifactures plate
5th line down
there is 2 lots of code numbers
first lot should be R150 or R151 denoting 5 speed manual with either 3.86 1st gear or 4.31 1st gear
What is the next lot , It should start with G

You will drive with 4.3`s and if your towing go 4.56`s and you will definatly drive well with 4.8`s

Franks auto parts have a set front and rear centres 4.8 for $800 seems to be going price second hand ive got prices for are around 800 to 850 look up snake racing they have new ring & pinions and prices, but can prob do cheaper through local mechanic
