Will an 86 hilux g52 and transfer fit in a 96 independant front hilux? The 96 has g52 aswell but not sure on the type of transfer. Has to be a bolt in fit.

simmo best way is to chech what transfer it is 7 bolts looking from the back is gear drive and is alot bigger and pretty sure chain drive is 5 bolts and is alot smaller where the bolts are if they are the same transfer type than it should fit.

The hilux should have had a gear drive transfer while the 96 model will have had a chain drive case.

The adapter on the back of the gearbox that allows the transfer case to plug in are different for a chain case compared to a geared one, so no, the old hilux box won't be a bolt-in replacement for the 96 one.
