I've had a bit of a hunt around but no luck.
I would like to know what tire/wheel size was standard on NA TD42's GQ's and GU's?
I have a '95 NA TD42 Ute and have 2 sets of tires, 31x10.5x15 AT's & 33x12.5x15 STT's. The 31's seem to gear the car down too much while the 33's seem a bit much for the engine, possibly due to the width?
From what I've read both GQ & GU NA TD42's have same gearing. I'd check my tire placard but it has been rubbed out by stuff in the glovebox...
Thanks in advance
Rob

31" or 32" and their metric equivalents on 15" and 16"rims depending on the model.
What diff ratio do you have?

stock 4.11
The 31's are up for replacement, so I need a new set of "everyday" tires. What ever is going to give me best economy & overall performance on road, thats why I'm chasing the stock size.

my dx wagon 1992 td 42 had stock split rims with 7.50/16's as per the placard.had 31s on it but got a set of 33s cheap. but they tax it a bit so will run them out and go back to 31s.

31x10.5R15 = GQ
265/75R16 = GU
or
7.50/16 on splitties these are tall-ish and skinny

In my tire search I came across this...
Benefits of narrow tires?

not a bad read,
235/85r16 is the new version of 7.50r16, they should be so close to the same size that you wouldnt tell the difference apart from the letters on the side. I always liked the skinny tyres for winding between spiky tyre puncturing bushes.
cheers
