Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hes guys i know this question has probably been asked a bajillion times, Im going to put a 4inch lift in my cruiser so i can compensate for 35inch tyres, the kit that i am looking at gives me the option of castor correction bushes or the 5 degree castor plates. What are other people running and what do they think. Any help would be fantastic.

with that much lift youll also be up for a part tim kit or double cardin front shaft before long. Youd be better to cut the guards as much as possible then look at a lift to suit. Id go 3 inch with a guard chop. Only reasons mines got the 5 inch is i brought it like it

Go the plates cause unless you have a press the bushes are a bugger to get in and out. Also means your not trying to put bushes in on right angle.

I fitted plates to mine and took them out again a few hours later. My tierod was hitting the radius arms, I had severe driveline vibrations, and caster still wasnt enough.

Every inch of lift changes the caster by 1.7degrees, so 4 inch lift will need around 7degrees of caster correction, caster plates usually only give you 5 degrees of correction.

I modified my diff housing to fix caster issues.


EDIT: you didnt say what cruiser?? I am asuming 80 series, but the same will be true for 105series too.

Sorry guys, Yeah it is an 80 series dx with manual locking hubs. How hard was it to relocate the diff brackets in your opion? was it somthing you did at home with a welder or did you pay some one to do it for you?

i found castor plates to be enough for 3 in but not enough for 4in plus tie rod ends rubbed on radius arms i now had big o 4x4 radius arms got them made 25mm longer and to suit 4-5 inch lift clears tie rod ends greatly improved my steering now drives like a stocker

I had caster plates on an 80 with 4 inch dobo coils. The caster was actualy dead spot on for an early 80 series (1 degree, 45 minues) later 80s are 3 degrees due to the drop in suspension height. the plates were superior engineering ones

4 inch is pushing it for good on road performance. I'd go 2 inch spring 2 inch body, or just 2 inch spring and cut guards.
