Coolant Leak!

Post by Silver_pig_gq »

got a rrc and its leaking coolant.....heaps of it. I narrowed it down to the back of the waterpump housing between the two small s bend hoses. It seems to be a smallish hole in the actual alloy. I was wondering if that part is replaceable or weather its a complete front housing. Does anyone know were i can get one from? Is it a straight forward swap or will i be pulling the whole front of the car off?
Ive tried to patch it with devcon AND steel putty seperately, but it seems to just continue to leak (possible crack to around the outlet for the hose).

It would need to be replaced if it has eaten through (sounds as if that coolant hadn't been used for a while at some point in the Rangies past). Complete timing covers for rangies are plentiful.

I have a couple here that are not doing anything PM if you're keen.

This is very common on old engines. Apparently from cavitation in the pump.
Graeme Cooper used to have them welded and the oil pump repaired and sell them as reconditioned.
So it is pretty certain they can be aluminium welded.
