4-Linking the Feroza

So we were out driving around in mud yesterday when I came up with the stupidest idea in the world.
4-Link the mighty fez...
Has anybody on here done it before? Will I be a first if I'm stupid enough to do so?
Will be doing link suspension in the back of the Rocky and a friends hilux first...but it could be fun....
May also solid axle swap the front but not sure on that one yet...

Fix the front first - everything else is a good idea but a waste of time with the current IFS front.
Of course the devil is in the detail....... but you'l get SFA benifit from a 4 link on its own.
My "choice" for a moderately simple solution is a composite toyota axle at the rear ( which i've done ) and a hilux leaf sprund front ( which i havn't done )..... but its "feasible"
Coils would be good allround but for the amount of work....... simpler to just buy another vehicle. legality.... a whole different issue as well.
Still we Feroza owners can dream can't we.

Good point dude...
yes we can dream
Whats the Diff ratio of the Feroza? 5.29?
for a little while I was considering putting the Rocky Axles under the feroza - but they are only 3.363 ratio...So I'd need twin transfers just to get back to stock gearing!

There was a kit available in Oz a few years back to coil the rear end. I think it was a 3-Link.
James, rocknferoza, had one in his Narrow Track.
Here's his member's thread intro:

*thread sidestep*
In terms of converting the f310 fez to solid front axle, how practical is it to use the axles out of a rocky?
I'm led to believe most of the required mount holes are still present on the feroza chassis?

Haven't looked although I might have to take a look...
Still, the ratio of the Rocky diff makes it no good...

I'd be surprised if this was the case...
The Feroza uses a torsion bar IFS which has little curve in the front section of the chassis to provide diff tube clearance.
A lve axle rocky however would need this curve. and so i cant see how its going to be an easy convestion.
Diff ratios also do not suit the Feroza IMO.
Also the loads are fed into the chassis in very different point between a leaf and torsion bar chassis - once again
not looking good for an easy change over.
Absolutely nothing s impossible, but i'd bet against it if i was a betting man :-)
If your serious look at using Hilux bits.

Rocky or Hilux axles, its just leaf suspension....
Hilux Bits sound the most practical to me....

Yes but hilux are more common and come in a wider range of variants, widths, ratios etc etc.
The same rear axle was also used in HiAce vans which are 5 Stud ( but not Feroza pitch... )
I'm running a "composite" HiAce / Hilux rear with disks and airlocker with custom axles.
As i'm also geared i'd have to say the combination is pretty unbreakable in a Feroza.

Take a look here Feroza with front and rear Rocky diffs and Rocky box+transfer.

Whilst i wouldn't personally use Rocky stuff - full marks for the work and outcome. He must be one of the lucky few who got lockers for his Rocky - or are they aftermarket ?
Toyota is just so much more commonly available... and has lockers - ratios and strength on its side. If your going to go to all the effort then IMO it makes sense to use versatile and STRONG bits.
Still its an excellent project and demonstrates very clearly what NEEDS to be done to a Feroza

Its a rocky engine too mate...
But that thing is unreal...
Maybe I'll get a hilux and swap it all onto the boss' Feroza one day...
The rocky is the project one though....

GU 3 link front, GQ 5 link rear, 4.88 ratios V6 commy motor & 35" tyres made the best combination not only for my FATROZA but the best set up I have had in any 4wd ever (I shouldnt have sold it)

The Ferozarocky its using aftermarket locker that
http://www.protrack.gr" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; has developed here in Greece. He took the rear group lsd and swapped with the front so in front he has an LSD and in the back an aftermarket air locker.

im currently working on a sas and coil conversion on my feroza. got the chassis stripped and where all the ifs rubbish was cut off and plated. now just have to start work on the links.
im planing on using rangerover or discovery front control arms in the front and possibly triangulated 4link in the rear all mated to hilux surf (1984) diffs i got off a mate very slow project but ill get there one day
