I have a GU ute and would be interested to hear from other owners with an auto locker in the front . In particular know how auto lockers perform driving in soft sand with the ute loaded up.

Remember the fact that auto lockers are really auto unlockers. They are normally locked, only unlocking when necessary. Which means both front wheels will be driving in soft sand. Thats not an issue as the sand itself compensates for the extra traction. Only time they can cause issues is on rock. I ran front and rear Detriots for about 10 years. No issues apart from one blown CV. Power steering is virtually a must though.
