Hey,

Looking at ways to fit a roll cage into a gq single cab.

Has anyone cut the dash away so you get more "knee" room?

I have seen it dont ont he passenger side but not ont he drivers.

I realise the steering colum will still be there but would give more room once you were in there?

Any one have pics?

Thanks,

Welchy

mate i took the dash pad off and cut the ends off, put the cage in then worked out where the tube would be and cut to suit. welded it back in. With the dash pads do the same but use a hole saw and slice the pad back to the screen to fit past the pipe then put the piece you cut bakc in and cover with dash mat, it makes it look really neat.

ah.. idont think we are talkign about the same thing.

where i put the cage is easy i want to see soem pics of people that have cut the lower part of the dash away so they have more knee room. Basicaly like when peopel cut the lower part of the passenger side of the dash and remove the glovebox so the navi has more room.

But want to do this ont teh drivers side as well.

Best thing to do is to pull the dash apart and have a look at what you are keeping and what you can ditch or move. Then make your desision based on that. You could make up a new panel that is removable so you can still access anything behind it so you could squash the space up a fair bit. There is a fair bit of room to be saved if you do it properly.

Bru 21 has done this a few times with the trucks he has built. He has done some nice work as well. Maybe send him a PM.

You could do a search for his builds on here. In one of his trucks he did a complete custom dash. It looked awesome. Very clean.

Edit: Here is the link to the build thread but its a bit old and most of the pics have gone. Bru21 might still have some of them though.
