Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Well I am looking at gears for the TD42 Turbo Auto GQ......

Now don't want it to be a full time offroad toy as it will also be used for camping and some longer trips. It's also the wife's daily at the moment

I have looked for gears and really if doing the change I may as well put GU diffs for the added strength and extra width.....

Now I have factored 33in tyres for day to day and 35's for offroad but what will it be like day to day with 4.6's on 33's on the road.

At the moment with 265/75/16 small 32s and 4.1's I do just under 2000RPM at 100 so I was thinking 2400RPM with 33's and 4.6's?

What does a standard td42 rev at 100 when on 31's I don't know as my car has not had small boots since I bought it 6 years ago...

Probably not much help but I am in the process of putting 4.3 GU diffs under my GQ, I run 33's daily and will be running 37's as play tyres, my thinking is that the 4.3 ratio should be a reasonable compromise between the two tyre sizes.

That said I have the 5 speed manual..................

hey mate wondeing if you know what the standard ratio is in a td42 auto gq as i just bough one picking it up on the weekend? and is the box a 4 speed auto or 5 speed auto as i want to run 37 all day everyday and need to know what ratios to run cheers

Mine has 4.1's factory.............I am pretty sure all aussie import TD42's were the same

4.6s in a patrol the ratio is spot on standard with 36s would be great on 35s but a little short on 33s if your only running around town 80kph or less wouldnt be to much trouble but above that rpm would be starting to get up a bit high.

what is it a 4speed gearbox or 5 speed gearbox i want to run 37s all day every day but dont know what ratio to put in it cheers
