now i know everyone is goin to say sell my car and buy something already done but i dont want to. i know my car and love it, i just want a bit more flex out of the front so im goin to be doin a solid axle front on it as soon as we are in our new house. my question is i have a highlux axle complete that i am putting a swivle hub kit in and im goin to order my hanger kit soon. when it comes to the steering can i just use the normal high lux set up with my ifs steering box or do i have to go highsteer. im not goin to be lifting it massive just prolly 2 inch springs and a 2 inch body lift so if anyone could lend some sugestions that would be great. thanx

the cheaper option to hi-steer would be crossover steering.
You cant use the normal lux steering set up as its a J arm set up and is a totally different steering box.

cheapest way to go as for steering will be to use an ifs steering box, and retain the original tie rod but source a new draglink to suit a x over steering setup, you can either purchase the x over arm for the passenger side from somewhere like superior, or you can make your own with minimal thaught, time and dollars. high steer has more potential but for what it sounds like you want to achieve not needed. also, if you are looking at locktup or superior for your mounts etc, forget it, get in touch with bubs on this site, from buds customs, he will sell it all to you for less than locktup will, guaranteed.

thanks guys. zuri92 i am looking at getting some gear from trail gear and i can get a cross over kit form 130 us which was pretty cheap even when converted. the only problem i could see was the link from the steering box to the drivers side knuckle, i was just goin to use the standard tie rod but if im goin around it the wrong way please let me know cuase its the first time i have done this sort of stuff.

hey zuri, its a IFS luxxy so it would have an IFS power steer box, so that cuts out the cost of IFS mounting kit, IFS box and pitman arm.
Old henry,
no point buying a crossover set up from the states as it will not fit when you put it on your lux.
As it will be on the opposite side as they drive on the other side of the road to us.
Just go a cast iron crossover steering arm from locktup or superior is like $400 and then all you need is another tie rod.

dans-paj92 i looked inot the trailgear site and they also supply a rhd crossover kit so ill order it all at the same time. i have just been looking at some pictures of other luxes and from what i can see the cross over is basictly the only way to go when it comes to using a ifs box because of where the tie rod goes from the pitman arm to the knuckle?????? should be fun doin all this foor the first time but if anyone around the newy area wants to come over to my shed and lend some advice feel free hahaha.

You could go standard crossover steering, but high steer arms are now quite cheap and come as kits aka trail gear etc.
Where do you live?
If on Sunshine Coast happy for you to check out my standard crossover set up.
