Outer Limits 4x4 Board

my 4.2 diesel, non turbo 100 series cruiser in the higher revs has been blowing big puffs of white smoke and is choking itself then change up a gear and its fine again until it gets into the higher revs again. just wondering what could be causing this. thanks

sounds like a blocked filter. Change the main filter, blow out the lines and clean the pick up filter in the fuel tanks.

also check the air filter or change it

Injectors? How many k's on the rig?

EDIT: if the fuel filter is blocked, it just wont make power/flat spots. air filter will cause black smoke due to not enough air to burn all the fuel and i think white is unburnt diesel aswell, im not sure if a air filter blockage will cause this but i know that dirty injectors will. They could be blocked and drippling out fuel or something, not sure.. Try running some good quality cleaner through it, change the air filter/inspect intake and fill it with fresh high quality diesel.

Fuel starvation can cause white smoke, the result of the pump timing not working properly

correct , change your fuel filter as said.

she's done 240,000. alright cheers for that.

im planning to turbo the 4.2, is there any reasons why i shouldn't with the motor having 240,000 on it ?
also what turbo set-up would you sugest ?
