The tyre was worn down to the first ware indercator ( two of the center lugs had just joined up ) so i just put a groove back in there and cut the rest of the bit out to be at the same hight as the lowest point of the tyre.... Think i might need to try a differnt size blade with a square edge??

i do heaps of tyre grooving on kevlar rally tyres and have only ever used the hot groover which is easy, but only ever go as low as the wear bars as any lower could cut cords in the carcass of the tyre

Looks like that's being used for mud.

I regrooved my 38" TSL's. The groover I used was an excellent unit that could cut 12mm wide & up to 16mm deep in one cut. I can't remember the brand, it had temp adjuster on it. I borrowed it from the company I used to work for.
To totally re-groove the whole tyre took roughly 40-45min. I'll see if I can find pics.

Use a chainsaw. I played around with it on an old tyre carcass I had lying around... Was just as easy as it looks in the youtube videos to be honest. A sawzall works aswell.
