84 4Runner HEADLIGHT ISSUE

Gday Guys,

i was trouble shooting a wiring problem on my mates 84 4runner. Basically the drivers side Headlight had 3 relays to power it sufficiently.

I took out the relays back to the original loom and the wires are behaving correctly when the lights are on/off but are not giving the headlight nearly enough power than what it should be...
It is just really dim. Im guessing the is a break somewhere further back that is drawing current.

can anyone shed some light on this? (sorry bout the pun)

cheers

So your saying that it had 3 relays to power both headlights?
Therefore 3 power supplys ot each relay?
They have a sealed beam headlight?
Sure its not a 24v headlight?
Sounds silly but it could be the problem.
Ive got the wiring diagram of the electrics in my repair manual if it comes to that.
Cheers
Dan

Thanks mate,

have solved the problem.

There once was a problem with the original loom/harness for the head lights and the drivers side light was getting between 2-3v to it...
it had since been to an auto electrician and had the relays put in. One was for driving light, one for highbeam and another for an old set of spotties...

anyway, i sourced a design wiring harness and stripped the headlight harness out of it and transplanted it in. problem solved... not sure what the issue was exactly but works fine now.

cheers
