MH Triton Idling Issues

I have an MH Triton 3.0L V6 and everytime i drive it, at low rpm (under 1600rpm) it has a distinct miss. It appears to go away when it's revved.
You can smell fuel when it's idling at the traffic lights too.
The idle is made worse when the a/c is turned on, as it drops and almost stalls.

I have done the heads and head gaskets on it and ever since then its been like this (done 2000km ago).
I have replaced plugs, rotor, rotor cap, fuel/air filter and cleaned the throttle body right out.

Any ideas what the problem could be??
I also noticed the charcoal canister purge line isnt hooked up... there is just 5cm of hose off the canister... where does it go?
It's really making me consider another car.

I have since plugged up the charcoal canister up, and sprayed throttle body cleaner around all hoses/gaskets to find any intake leaks.
the only thing i found was a really small crack in another canister hose which bolts to the throttle body.
I have since fixed this and it hasn't changed a thing.

Anyone??

I'd be suspecting a temperature sensor making your ECU think the engine is cold, and making it run rich.

Have you checked error codes? Do you use a dealer who could do it for you?

i would have thought that, but it does it when it's cold and warm.

with regard to ecu codes, would it be too old to read codes from (1990 model)?

I understand that it does it both cold and warm, but if the ecu is getting an incorrect signal it may think the engine and/or incoming air is actually much colder than it really is. The ecu is generally reading a different sensor to the one displaying temperature on the dash - so don't believe that the ecu sensor is OK simply because the gauge is OK.

My paj has done something like this to me on a couple of occasions, but the problem has always cleared itself before I can attempt to diagnose it. So I haven't tried to read error codes myself, but (AFAIK) all EFI vehicle will have codes to read. The VL commodore from mid 1980s certainly did, and it's not like that was state of the art. :)

i really don't think the ecu sensor is buggered as i get the fast cold idle (1500rpm+) when its cold and when its warm, it sits around 800 with a miss and then it drops to around 450-500 with a distinct miss with the a/c on.
unless there's another sensor?

idle up solenoid/vacuum hose that increases rev does not function properly.
Thats why your idle goes down when you turn on the aircon. :)

smoke, its vehicle specific and I don't know where it would be
for a triton, but AFAIK all vehciles have an idle up mechanism
to increase the idle when you turn on your aircon. :)

i replaced this idle up solenoid and it did not fix it.
i also replaced the plugs and leads again too.
is there any really good injector cleaner out there that anyone can recommend?

when was it you last cleaned the throttle body, with some brake cleaner, then I would have the cylinder that was missing, pressure checked, to see if you had a fouled up valve, either inlet or exhaust, hope that this helps.
