No you can't swap it to the rear as the spline count from front to rear are different, 31 spline axel front vs. 33 spline rear.
Someone once asked can you swap spider gears and the answer is no as the Lockers have thair own side gears that mesh to a ratchet part in the center.

I find it spends more time locked then id like. even if i hit the brakes then try and turn its still locked in. i had a detroit in the rear of my old hilux nd was hoping it would be much the same but very different.

The Auto locker is actually an Auto Unlocker but it only unlocks when there is very little force on the outside wheel, and that don't happen if your under any sort of power (ie. on the accelerator at all)
I am looking at getting an Auto locker again soon, i didn't mind it, cheaper than Air and i was used to how it worked

i dont know why you would bother with those auto piece of shit lockers... they dont even compare to air lockers,, so save ya pennies and and hold out till you can buy the right gear cheif... air lockers all the way

Hey champ - i'm pretty sure nobody was asking which of the two was better. In fact his question has nothing to do with it.

Both have their places, different situations.
If i was comping i wouldn't dream of using an auto locker, however if i want a locker on budget for weekend warrior stuff Auto locker does come in alot cheaper.

Fair enough. He/she was just asking if they could move it - which he can't. Sounds like he/she wasn't aware of how they work.
As MyGQ said, each have their plusses and minus'. I've had both in the past, and chose a Lockrite for my current GQ mainly for the price and their excellent warranty, but also purely for the fact that it just works. No air lines, no electricals.
Anyway, i think we've all gone off topic enough - the OP's question has been answered.
