HJ60 Radiator replacement.

Ok so the top tank of my radiator has started to leak along the seem.

its about $80-$90 to have the tank taken off, radiator cleaned and put back on. $340 for a replacement radiator if my core is stuffed. (dearer to recore than replace whole radiator).

My question.

Are the radiators as good as the toyota radiator. I have heard that the are nowhere near as good. This one has gone nearly 15 years so far. Will a replacement (non genuine) go the same time? as good heat transfer?

Toyota has quoted me $1100 for a radiator, but i may be able to get one for $600.... would it be better to get a $600 genuine or will the $340 non genuine be fine??

Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

Go with a reputable radiator place. They'll give you a warranty and it'll be just as good as a Toyota one.

Tried having my old one repaired, lasted 4-6 mths. Bought a 'cheap' one, lasted just as long. Ended up buying from a 'reputable place', and 5 years of hell later still going strong!!

I installed a Natrad radiator for $450. The construction looks very good. My '83 HJ60 has had 2 genuine radiators that lasted 10 years and 80,000kms each. The previous one cost $800 in 1992. The previous owner left the reciept in the glovebox!
I'd go with a reputable aftermarket brand which offers the same warranty at Toyota and pocket the savings.
