can anyone tell me on a turbo what a V band is and if it has any advantages/ disadvantages for power, sound etc, over the normal 5 bolt dump flange..

V-Band is how the exhaust is connected to the back of the turbo.
on other turbo's the dump pipe is bolted to the back of the turbo with 4 or 5 bolts normally.
V-Band has a ring that slides inside a tube port on the back of the turbo and is held in with a very large version of a Intercooler pipe.

The same way it does with any other turbo. The turbo will either have a V-band only exhaust dump, or an adapter to go from the common 3/5/6 bolt flange to a V-band.
I've never used one myself, so i can't comment on how they go for longevity etc. (there's plenty of high powered cars using them), but having the flexibility of 360 degrees rotation on the pipe would be a huge advantage.

V-Band works fine. have seen many with them and they don't have any problems.
