Manual choke cable

Having never owned a car with a manual choke before, what sort of cable should I be looking for to suit my 4k carb in my 1.3 Sierra?
Had a look on ebay for a few, but they were bad pics.
I am guessing the cable is in a sleeve of sorts, and fixed at the dash end somehow?
Would a hand throttle like old hiluxes have (turn it a bajillion times to idle up) suit the application, or is a normal pull thingo going to be better?

Push pull type. Much easier. (my ke30 has push pull)
The lux ones are more of an idle control/cruise control. They are designed to adjust the throttle, not the fuel ratio.
Your probably better off asking on rollaclub.com/toymods.com, or in the general section here i think

Just go to auto one/repco or similar they have the push/pull choke cables as a universal part. Fairly inexpensive too from memory.

Drill a hole in the dash bottom left of the steering wheel is where I put mine I think thats where the 1litres had theres as it looks like it is cut out there to house it. Just run the cable through the hole you drilled and into the engine bay and tighten up the nut on the cable to clamp it to the dash. Just have to make sure you get one that is long enough for the job which shouldn't be too hard as the zooks carb isn't to far away.

Yah found one at Auto one.
Will give the installation of the carb a go during the week when all you bastards are at work!

Yeah found it, fanks.
I just have to work out what does what - It looks like there is an idle up solenoid on this carb too, but there are a few bolts etc missing, so I need to get all that together first.
I am clueless when it comes to vacuum lines I have found.

On my 3k carb I think I blocked off all the vac lines and just hooked the vacuum advance up and it worked good. Just make sure you hook up the fuel cut off solenoids or can run on when you turn it off.

Hey mate if you get in contact with a good carby shop they can get you a factory optioned sierra hand choke kit. It is still available. It is a push pull system but it has a small adjustment just like the hand throttle in the old toyotas. It is also made to fit in the little hole Tmmy is talking about. From memory its only $50.

not directed at Lump.. but go to the wreckers and grab the choke cable off the corolla your taking the carb from..you should be grabbing the bracket for the accelerator while your there anyway.. push/pull, turn to lock.. just dont put it on the RHS of the dash.. going to have to move mine since knocking it and breaking the placci with my knee exiting the veichle, escaping a huntsman that decided to make home above my drivers sun visor.. scared the bejesus outta me!
guessing you got the link in the other thread about where you gotta grind the plate!?
lump.. if ya get stuck with the vac. lines.. shoot me a msg and will get some pics of what does n doesnt get used
oh and you MAY need to do some mods to get the original air filter to fit.. MAYBE!!
