Hilux IFS questions

Hey all, my cousin has just bought a 01 SR5 hilux. We need some advice regarding tyres and suspension.
Its got factory suspension, and about 100k on the odo. and has SR5 15" rims.
He plans on doing only mild 4x4 work, and mainly using it for camping and dirt roads etc.
Plans so far are 31" all-terrains or soft-core muddies. I fitted my spare set of rims and tyres which are 31" AT's on patrol offset 15x7" sunnies. They rub on the front guards only (which we will remove or trim). Is there any other problems we may encounter with 31's?
He also wants (and needs) a small suspension lift. I have a pretty good idea on how to set up a coil suspension kit, but with IFS and torsion bars im lost.
Can the torsion bars be wound up for some extra height, if so, how much?
With the rears, would some extended shackles do the job?
It would be new shocks all round too.
Hes not scared to spend a few $$ but just looking into the cheaper options first.
Hope someone has some advice to offer, thanks in advance
