hey
seeing as tho its unlikely il be going ahead with a 6L conversion, im thinking of adding a FMIC to my td42 turbo setup while my car is appart and getting a makeover. I havnt had a chance to have a close look at any in the flesh, so just wondering if anyone can post up pics of there installs?
mainly interested to see where u have ran the piping and if you have mounted behind the grill or cut it out of the way.
I know a laminova or water to air will be a better setup, but im looking for a cheap upgrade here. seeing as tho air to air coolers can be had so cheap nowdays i figure why not.
peace
matty

For GQ?
I have pics of my intercooler on a duramax, but same direction of airflow. All behind the grill.

vanbox, yeah GQ. thats the sort of setup i was thinking, just interested to see where people have run the piping and if its possible to get the intercooler sitting behind the grill (keepin air con condensor)
looking at mine i recon i can run the piping ont he passenger side fine, but on the drivers side it looks pretty tight. I might have to relocate the battery to fit it around the power steering. (im talking 2 1/2" pipe)
havnt had a chance to play around with the grill and how it will fit yet.
please post up more pics of different setups if you have them,
cheers

Thanx for the pics tim.
il will probly run a slightly smaller cooler, maybe 450 wide so it mite fit a bit easier.
did you have any overheating drama's with having the extra core in front of your radiator?
how did you go with the piping on the cold side around the powersteering? have you got an above pic of the engine bay?
cheers

no my car runs pretty normal on the temp side. It does suffer a bit in summer when towwing the caravan up a hill or over 110kph but its always been like that i have fitted a big alloy radiator and it made no difference to temp as far as i can see. I dont have any under bonnet picks at the moment but it 2.5" pipe and it goes past the ps pump i put a little dent in the pipe where it passes the banjo bolt on the pump so it can get full adjustment if required i will try to take some picks if i remember

Gday mate,
I ran my piping behind the headlights and out inbetween the inner and outer guards and back into the engine.
pics here:

I had over heating issues at first, But i added Au Tiwn thermos and removed the factory fan, then i also upgraded the radiator an extra couple of cores.
I also removed the airconditioning condensor, compressor and piping to the firewall as my system had no gas in it so i hadnt used it for a year and a half. Its not my daily only comes out every couple of weekends so the condensor was just blocking flow.
Now my trucks sits between 74 and 82 degrees all of the time ( put a mechanical temp guage in ) with no dramas. Runs 16 Pound boost atm with low EGTs with room for more when i have spare cash to get it correctly dyno tuned.
